“ We had the nigiri omakase course at Sushi Kyoto Sora, and it was absolutely wonderful, the best sushi we’ve had in Japan so far. The food was so good that I completely forgot to take pictures of most of the nigiris! Their sake selection was excellent, and the staff offered fantastic recommendations. The service was flawless (10/10), and the ambiance was perfect. We sat at the counter, and it was so much fun watching the chef at work. He was incredibly fast, almost like he was performing magic with his hands. The chef was also warm and personable, making small talk throughout the meal. Since it was my husband’s birthday, he even prepared a special birthday dessert plate, which made the day feel extra special. We will definitely come back, and next time we’ll try the most expensive course, we do regret not going for it this time! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable sushi experience. ”

The food is exceptional as always, but what truly impressed me was the service — one of the staff remembered me wen I re-visited this July even though my last visit was over a year ago. “ The best sushi I’ve ever had - and I’m not a sushi fan! I would never have had the pleasure of this omakase were it not for a couple of Japanese nurses who helped me navigate a clinic when I had a health concern while on my vacation. They were sweet enough to treat my boyfriend and I to this omakase. The chef and waitress were very welcoming and I was surprised that they accommodated our orders by asking if we wanted wasabi or not. They also gave the option of swapping out pieces if we didn’t enjoy them - but that wasn’t necessary. My favorite were the salmon, fatty tuna, salmon roe (not pictured) and fresh bonito, but everything was fantastic. The urchin was my least favorite but at no fault of anyone - it’s just a flavor and texture that I don’t agree with. Everything was clearly very fresh and seasoned to perfection - I’m not kidding. It was so good. My boyfriend has eaten far more sushi than I have and even he was blown away. His favorite was the squid and he also said it was the first time that the urchin was enjoyable for him. A testament to the freshness of the product. So glad we came here and the next time we’re in Japan we’ll return to Kyoto if not only for this sushi omakase. 美味しい ”
